Alex is a native of south-central Illinois and is pursuing a PhD in Applied Plant Sciences. He is excited to be at the University of Minnesota and involved with the Plant Breeding Symposium for the third year. Prior to his arrival in the Twin Cities, he studied at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he received a B.S. and M.S. in Crop Sciences. His research is focused on applying genomics to understand the genetic basis underlying complex phenotypic traits. He is advised by Candice Hirsch.
